24 Hours ’till Paradise
Well there is officially less than 24 hours until I will be walking on the Costa Rican coastline enjoying the 80-90 degree weather. Today I’m just finishing up packing and getting the last few things together for the trip. We have to leave the house tonight ( I guess I should say morning) at 2:30am. Our flight takes off at 5:20am, and from there we go to Houston, TX and then to Costa Rica. We’ll be getting to Costa Rica around 1-2pm. For the most recently updates, check out my Twitter.
Update: I have everything packed and my iPod Touch completely charged. I’ll be heading to bed in a few hours.
2 Days Until Costa Rica 1

Well, it’s 2 days until I leave for my month long trip to Costa Rica which I absolutely can not wait for. I’m beyond excited! I’ll keep you posted as things happen.
A little excerp on Wikipedia about Costa Rica:
“Costa Rica, officially the Republic of Costa Rica is a republic in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Costa Rica was the first country in the world to constitutionally abolish its army. Costa Rica is among the safest countries in Latin America and is currently the least impoverished Spanish speaking country in the world, with poverty percentages lower than that of Spain and other developed countries and levels of urbanization that nears those ones of countries such as Finland and Norway. In 2007 the government of Costa Rica said it wants to be the first developing country to become carbon neutral by 2021.”
Twhirl
I’ve been looking for the perfect Twitter App for some time now and finally ran across Twhirl just the other day, and I have to say that I absolutely love it! Twhirl is a Twitter desktop client based on the Adobe AIR platform. It has some really awesome features I have to admit. Definitely check it out.
Yahoo Declines Microsoft’s Offer
Well, as you may already now, Yahoo has declined Microsoft’s offer of $44.6 Billion. I think a Yahoo-Microsoft partnership would be both good and bad for many reasons. For one, it would offer a competitor for Google, and second Yahoo’s Publisher and Microsoft’s AdCenter together could create something way better than both of the companies are proposing right now. On Monday, Yahoo’s Board of Directors said that the $44.6 Billion undervalues Yahoo, although their Q4 earnings are down 23 percent and their stock has been going down for some time now. By the end of the day Microsoft sent a message back to Yahoo stating that it was a fair offer and that Yahoo was making a mistake.
Yahoo’s CEO Jerry Yang is said to have reassigned hundreds of employees 4 month ago, to make Yahoo more relevant. Some of the plans are to rethink Yahoo’s homepage, consolidate Yahoo’s social networks, open up Yahoo to third parties (like Facebook), and revamping Yahoo’s network infrastructure.
Microsoft’s statement suggests that, at least for now, the company is not willing to raise its price. Microsoft also indicated anew that it was ready for a fight, repeating earlier statements that it might consider “all necessary steps” to ensure the deal is completed. Game On!
Geek Squad - Untrustworthy, Upselling, Bastards
Okay, so I hung out with my friend Cody today. I haven’t seen him in… a really long ass time. I used to go to school with him back in Middle School but really haven’t hung out since then. So it was really kind of cool to hang out with him again. We went to Pittsburgh Blue and had an amazing burger, conversed, caught up a little, and overall had a fantastic time.
Then we headed over to Best Buy to look around, and I remembered that I needed some RAM for my laptop, so I wasn’t sure which kind to get so I asked the rep and she referred me to the Geek Sqad. He looked up the specs of my machine, and brought me over to the RAM section of Best Buy. There was a 1GB ($60) and a 512MB ($80) stick (yeah, the prices confuse me too, but thats what they were). So I picked up the 1GB one and he imediately jumped in and said, “oh, your motherboard won’t support that one, you can only have 512MB in each slot.” So I was like okay. But then as I was walking around the store I got to thinking, does that make any sense, or is he just trying to upsell me? I figured I’d take my chances and get the cheaper one which has more capacity. I took it home, plopped it in, and it works just fine, as my computer continues to clip right along. Never, ever, listen to the Geek Sqad (and I though they were cool).
Flights Are Cheap Right Now
I was on looking this morning for flights and they are super cheap right now. Thinking about purchasing one for SF, as I plan to go down there this summer.
