Many new GMail Features

Posted by Jeff on June 06, 2008

As a huge fan of GMail, I thought I’d make this into an entire entry. GMail has upped the anty a little bit with some new bitchin’ features. The folks at GMail have built GMail Labs as a way to show off what they have been working on. You can go here to view all of the new features but I’ll just list a few that I think are really useful. Some new signature options have been added, you can new have a personalized signature at the bottom of every email you send. Before you could have a GMail signature, but there weren’t many options to specialize it and make it unique.

Second of all, they’ve increased the attachement limit to 20MB. This is really useful; I send attachments all the time and never thought that 10MB was big enough, now they’ve doubled it! Some of the older new updates are the new look on the iPhone browser, free IMAP, group chat, colored labels (I use this feature the most), and last but certainly not least, GMail now supports the AIM network. Some really cool new features emerging from GMail and I’ve decided to dedicate this blog entry as like a “thank you” to GMail. Have a good weekend everyone, talk to you next week.

Well, now that the Microsoft-Yahoo (Microhoo) deal is over, Microsoft still isn’t willing to give up in the online world. Sources close to M$oft say the company’s bankers have begun signaling to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg interest in acquiring his company. They said, “we just want to gauge their interest, more than any real effort.” Although, last fall, M$oft acquired 1.6% of Facebook for $240 million. So I guess will just have to wait and see where this one goes.
