Today marks the first day that California drivers under 18 are forbidden from using a phone while driving. Drivers over 18 must use a hands-free device. I’m sure plenty of people will get caught and have to pay the $20 first time affense. Since using a phone raises your risk of an accident to the same as driving drunk, why not crack a flask of Captain Morgan open while you’re at it? It’ll make the accident a lot less painful.

The newest prancing horse is a brand new model from Ferrari. Ferrari says the California is aimed at owners who desire a car which embodies everything the Prancing Horse represents in terms of sporty design and innovation, but also seek a car with greater versatility than ever.
In addition to having a 4.3-liter V-8 that produces 460 bhp and claims to go 62 in under 4 seconds the California has a retractable roof that can go from open to completely closed in 14 seconds. Despite new innovation, the California doesn’t forget Ferrari’s past, the car used some styling tactics from the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder from the 1950s & 1960’s.

Limited information about the California has been released, but I’m sure you can expect something in the coming weeks.

As a huge fan of GMail, I thought I’d make this into an entire entry. GMail has upped the anty a little bit with some new bitchin’ features. The folks at GMail have built GMail Labs as a way to show off what they have been working on. You can go here to view all of the new features but I’ll just list a few that I think are really useful. Some new signature options have been added, you can new have a personalized signature at the bottom of every email you send. Before you could have a GMail signature, but there weren’t many options to specialize it and make it unique.
Second of all, they’ve increased the attachement limit to 20MB. This is really useful; I send attachments all the time and never thought that 10MB was big enough, now they’ve doubled it! Some of the older new updates are the new look on the iPhone browser, free IMAP, group chat, colored labels (I use this feature the most), and last but certainly not least, GMail now supports the AIM network. Some really cool new features emerging from GMail and I’ve decided to dedicate this blog entry as like a “thank you” to GMail. Have a good weekend everyone, talk to you next week.
]]>2) Go to parties. You can’t even start to know what you may find on the envelope of serendipity. If you suffer from agoraphobia, send colleagues.
3) It’s not a good idea to take a forecast from someone wearing a tie. If possible, tease people who take themselves and their knowledge too seriously.
4) Wear your best for your execution and stand dignified. Your last recourse against randomness is how you act — if you can’t control outcomes, you can control the elegance of your behaviour. You will always have the last word.
5) Don’t disturb complicated systems that have been around for a very long time. We don’t understand their logic. Don’t pollute the planet. Leave it the way we found it, regardless of scientific ‘evidence’.
6) Learn to fail with pride — and do so fast and cleanly. Maximize trial and error — by mastering the error part.
7) Avoid losers. If you hear someone use the words ‘impossible’, ‘never’, ‘too difficult’ too often, drop him or her from your social network. Never take ‘no’ for an answer (conversely, take most ‘yeses’ as ‘most probably’).
Don’t read newspapers for the news (just for the gossip and, of course, profiles of authors). The best filter to know if the news matters is if you hear it in cafes, restaurants… or (again) parties.
9) Hard work will get you a professorship or a BMW. You need both work and luck for a Booker, a Nobel or a private jet.
10) Answer e-mails from junior people before more senior ones. Junior people have further to go and tend to remember who slighted them.

My friend and I have been planning this trip for almost 8 months now. Ever since he moved out to Indiana, we’ve joke about doing a road trip back and forth but never really took it seriously until about a few months ago when we really were set on doing this thing. It’s a long, dreadful, 10 hour drive through the country. My good friend Josh is coming along with me so that I stay attentive and altert the entire way. We’re leaving Saturday morning a few hours into the AM and will arrive in Indiana shortly after 2pm. As I’m writing this entry, I’m thinking of all the things I need to accomplish tomorrow in order to be ready on Saturday morning. The car will be fueled up and everything will be packed snug in tomorrow (Friday) night. I think I’m overly excited about this entire thing, but it should be a great time! We’ll be staying at his place for a week and then he’s coming back with us and staying with me for another week. Should be fun!
Today was rather a lazy day. I watched Deja Vu, played Guitar Hero, and ate literally all day. I’ll update tomorrow before bed. Until then, buh bye.
]]>What do you think they buy with the dollars?
1. Cars.
2. Highways.
3. Gasoline.
4. Inflation (for us).
BTW, the Chinese “still live in an $80 per barrel oil environment,” (thanks to government subsidies).
PS: This was inspired by this thread.
