Geek Squad - Untrustworthy, Upselling, Bastards

Okay, so I hung out with my friend Cody today. I haven’t seen him in… a really long ass time. I used to go to school with him back in Middle School but really haven’t hung out since then. So it was really kind of cool to hang out with him again. We went to Pittsburgh Blue and had an amazing burger, conversed, caught up a little, and overall had a fantastic time.

Then we headed over to Best Buy to look around, and I remembered that I needed some RAM for my laptop, so I wasn’t sure which kind to get so I asked the rep and she referred me to the Geek Sqad. He looked up the specs of my machine, and brought me over to the RAM section of Best Buy. There was a 1GB ($60) and a 512MB ($80) stick (yeah, the prices confuse me too, but thats what they were). So I picked up the 1GB one and he imediately jumped in and said, “oh, your motherboard won’t support that one, you can only have 512MB in each slot.” So I was like okay. But then as I was walking around the store I got to thinking, does that make any sense, or is he just trying to upsell me? I figured I’d take my chances and get the cheaper one which has more capacity. I took it home, plopped it in, and it works just fine, as my computer continues to clip right along. Never, ever, listen to the Geek Sqad (and I though they were cool).
